HEAnet is Ireland’s National Research and Education Network, providing internet connectivity and ICT shared services across all levels of the Irish education system, reaching in excess of 1,000,000 end users. We connect learners and researchers across all of Ireland to education resources and to fellow national educational and research networks in Europe, and the rest of the world.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cybersecurity Product Development Manager to join our Project Management Office Team on a 12-month fixed contract to play a leading role in a security project.
This role is primarily based at our Dublin 1 offices, but we are pleased to offer a flexible remote working arrangement. This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week. You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.
What the Project Management Office Team does
The Project Management Office (PMO) manages HEAnet’s project portfolio and provides project management support across the company. As a technical organization, many of the HEAnet’s projects involve collaboration with internal teams on services like networking, cloud, identity, storage and security.
The PMO plays a central role in developing new services, including a strategic focus on cybersecurity. The Cybersecurity Product Development Manager is key to delivering this objective, acting as a Subject Matter Expert and working closely with HEAnet’s security, Finance, Marketing, Management and Client teams.
What the Cybersecurity Product Development Manager does
HEAnet aims to expand its security services portfolio to help clients in the Further and Higher Education sector address security challenges. While already offering a range of security services through internal teams and partners, HEAnet is exploring new service opportunities. The Cybersecurity Product Development Manager will assess the feasibility of new service candidates, develop business cases, and create a roadmap for potential new production services.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Expertise in security services, with broad knowledge of solutions and best practices for large corporate/educational environments and familiarity with service providers in the Irish marketplace
  • Experience with security technologies such as Managed Detection & Response (MDR), Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Vulnerability Management and Detection (VMDR), Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, etc.
  • Ability to develop security concepts into detailed service definitions, working with clients and HEAnet stakeholders
  • Lead feasibility studies and business cases for new services, identifying client demand, budget, and resource needs
  • Develop a 3-year security service roadmap, prioritizing and sequencing key initiatives based on successful business cases
  • Identify potential vendors for security services
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams (legal, contracting, procurement, finance) to ensure smooth project rollouts
  • Oversee the development of reporting and metrics for security services
  • Support HEAnet teams in transitioning services to production, including vendor onboarding, contracts, SLAs, training, pilots, and launches
  • Provide regular updates to key stakeholders (management, PMO, clients)
