Edmonton Catholic Schools is looking for a Data Analyst 2 to join the Program Development Services team!
Under general direction, based on an intermediate-level data analyst skill set, the job participates in the planning support, development/re-engineering, implementation, and ongoing analysis and maintenance of a wide range of Division developed reporting systems and dashboards as well as leveraging existing data and creating new information systems to assist decision-makers in the Division. The job provides day-to-day support including problem resolution to assigned information systems and workflows.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree or diploma in Computing Science, Computer Technology, Statistics or Data Science plus three years of directly related experience
  • Microsoft Certification in Data Analyst or equivalent industry certification.
  • Knowledge of: Relational database environments, SQL Server, Oracle, Azure, PowerBI, SharePoint, SQL Reporting Services, Excel and current Data Analysis, Design Methodologies
  • Knowledge of Data Modelling and Artificial Intelligence
  • Knowledge of specific business processes, project management techniques, FOIP Legislation; e-records management and system security standards.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • Knowledge of the educational environment and its unique technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of department operations, business, policies and procedures
  • Understanding of Division business, operations and programs

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning, developing/re-engineering, implementing and providing ongoing support for a wide range of ECSD-developed data visualizations and information systems.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, educators) to understand their data needs and objectives and translate data insights into actionable recommendations that drive strategic decisions while adhering to department policies, procedures and standards
  • Provide functional support in area of expertise by participating in projects and/or cross-discipline teams
  • Working closely with other analysts and vendors to collect data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, APIs, and external platforms. Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity through meticulous cleaning and preprocessing.
  • Provide maintenance and support to at least one of the major mission-critical administrative business data visualizations within the department including the definition and resolution of day-to-day application processing problems
  • Plan for, develop and provide administrative support to databases/datasets specific to the applications the incumbent has been assigned to support
  • Perform high-end data systems testing on assigned systems prior to deployment to ensure the end user receives a working product with accurate data collection, visualization and reports.
  • Work closely with systems staff on disaster recovery strategies, backup/restore processes, capacity planning and security requirements
  • Consult with partners to identify business problems and communicate ways of streamlining the process
  • Act as a technical backup to team members ensuring continuity of service provided to users
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in Division business applications to provide support
  • Maintain technical knowledge through a range of professional development activities
