DHL, an award-winning leading supply chain business is seeking a Data Analyst Engineer to play a vital role coordinating our daily warehouse and distribution requirements.

Responsibilities:

As part of your normal duties, whilst maintaining excellent health and safety practices, you will:

  • The purpose of the Data Engineer / Analyst is to support and develop data processing routines, along with management and operational reporting, always with the intent of full automation. The role’s focus will be the full spectrum of the work that we do in the team, i.e. ETL definition and development, report development, data analysis, documentation and support.
  • Using the appropriate tools, develop any and all aspects, including data security, of what’s required to achieve the objective, from data extraction through to polished reporting.
  • Oversee automated processing, and react in a timely manner should something need attention. Understand issues that occur in any aspect of team’s remit, and determine what can proactively be done to avoid those issues occurring again in the future. Document process for handling recurring events for others in the team to follow.
  • Documenting data handling processes, including why things are done a certain way, not just how. Documenting data flows and lineage so visibility is maintained of what’s used where, e.g. which objects are used by each report.
  • Ensuring time is taken to enhance and retain the skills needed to do the job. This includes finding appropriate training material and making time to learn and then use that knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities to improve things, be that through tweaking an improved process, or a totally new approach to they way something gets done.
  • Working with the wider business to ensure a level of understanding around the tools we build for them to ensure they can get the best from them.
