About the role
In this exciting new role within King’s Digital, the Data Analyst will be supporting in driving the data strategy and operations of the University’s online programmes. Reporting to the Data Governance and Lead Analyst, the Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in producing regular and ad-hoc reports that deliver insights into management information, business intelligence, and statistical analysis. These reports will support key stakeholders across various teams and departments within the University.
The Data Analyst will develop a comprehensive understanding of the data that underpins King’s Digital and its programmes, using tools like Power BI to enhance productivity and inform decision-making. This role involves data manipulation and interpretation to support student experience and online delivery optimisation and in refining and improving student data processes.
Additionally, the Data Analyst will ensure that reporting is seamlessly integrated with university processes, maintaining strong communication and coordination with central data reporting teams, data governance teams, academic faculties, admissions, and marketing. As the primary point of contact for data-related inquiries, the postholder will manage reporting outputs, uphold data security, and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. The role also involves providing training and guidance to report users, promoting self-service capabilities, and enhancing the data literacy of King’s Digital staff. Through these efforts, the Data Analyst will contribute significantly to the overall King’s Digital Data Strategy.

About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Able to use one or more business intelligence/analysis tools and/or associated languages for example Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, SSRS, R, DAX, Python, M, Excel, VBA
  • Experience of effectively handling large and complex datasets, including cleaning of data, database management, quality control, and derivation of variables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate the outcome of analysis verbally, in writing and via presentations
  • Experience with working with a range of different stakeholders
  • Provide mutual support and encouragement to team members, fostering a collaborative working environment.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the Higher Education sector
  • Data Analytics or Business Analytics certification such as Microsoft Power Platform PL-300 or PL-900 certification or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of student record systems, SITS or similar
