Qualifications
- Post-Secondary degree in Business Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, especially Power BI, is an asset
- Experience working in a construction or industrial environment is an asset
Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of technology solutions and analytical principles
- Detailed knowledge and practical experience in Power BI
- Working knowledge of ETL and data ingestion (API knowledge).
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Azure Synapse, Data Factories, Data Lake and Databricks, SQL and PowerBI.
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Detail oriented, analytical, organized, and possess a strong work ethic, able to work under minimal supervision
- Self-motivated, results driven, able to work well under time constraints, and meet deadlines
- A strong desire to learn and ability to work well within a team
Responsibilities:
ROLE:
The Data Analyst role will be comfortable handling and analyzing large quantities of data, whilst understanding business process and reporting requirements – particularly in relation to construction processes, equipment fleet processes, and performance metrics. They will also support the ongoing development and maintenance of the Surerus Murphy Microsoft Azure Data & Analytics platform.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with business reporting stakeholders, and others within the intelligence reporting team, to understanding reporting and analytical requirements to acquire and present relevant datasets.
- Handle large and complex datasets from various operational and finance related systems to support data analytics requirements, either through automated reporting or ad hoc analysis.
- Build and develop reporting through Power BI, SSRS, and other analytical tools to support analytical projects.
- Support ETL processes as part of the Azure Synapse platform, including structured business data and unstructured IoT streaming data.
- Create SQL scripts, views, queries, and stored procedures to extract data.
- Create re-usable, data models in SQL, Azure Synapse dataflows, and Spark Notebooks through the standardization of tables, structures, and schemas.
- Maintain descriptive data catalogue of business data to support report building.
- Implement information security best practices business-wide in order to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of company data, systems and infrastructure.
- Work with IT infrastructure team as needed to deploy and maintain reporting infrastructure.
- Support and maintain data within Data Governance and Information Security standards and best practices.
- Support ad hoc business analytics projects as required.
