Description:
JOB SUMMARY/BASIC FUNCTION:
The Data Analyst supports the administrative and research functions of the Digital Futures Institute (DFI) by gathering data from multiple sources, organizing data, and preparing reports. The Data Analyst is responsible for coordinating the creation of systems to manage the flow of data between applications in support of the overall mission of the Digital Futures Institute. This position is responsible for ensuring data gathered in various systems is appropriate and the configuration of these systems is coordinated to provide efficient and effective data flow:
- Retrieve data from various academic and administrative systems (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, YuJa, ServiceNow)
- Combine data from multiple data sources
- Database administrator for both academic and research data
- Perform basic data analysis
- Create data summary reports
- Create data visualizations
- Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
- Work with users and stakeholders to gather functional and technical requirements around digital asset metadata, taxonomy, organization, and workflow
- Create governance, process, and training documentation for the full range of users
- Organize and create efficient metadata structures, taxonomies, and file-naming conventions
- Assign appropriate metadata to assets, archive and delete assets as necessary, create curated groups of assets for end users as needed
- Audit system performance and gather user feedback
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues for academic platforms
- Manage DFI-initiated research projects and student research projects
- Additional responsibilities, as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in SQL and Excel for data querying and manipulation
- Experience with Python programming language
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Experience in cloud services: Ideally, AWS services, including S3, Lambda, SES, and Cloudwatch
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Strong organization skills
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual presentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous analytics experience
- Exposure to web services and APIs
- ETL Experience
- Fanatical about creating order from disorder
- Ability to apply sound judgment while working independently
Salary Range: $72,000.00-$75,750.00
Work Modality: Hybrid
