QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:
Degree in economics, social science, statistics or related field
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in quantitative data analysis
Knowledge & Skills:
Good knowledge of statistical packages (SPSS and Python required, STATA and R an advantage)
Strong experience in data management and standardization
Strong quantitative data analysis skills
Strong knowledge of food security indicators and conceptual framework
Demonstrated ability to write analytical reports and present findings
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
IPC Level 1 certification is an advantage
Languages:
Fluency in English, working knowledge of French, Arabic or Spanish desired

Responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance of the VAM Officer, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Lead the technical implementation of the Data Quality guidance into Survey Designer and further relevant parts of the APP Ecosystem, including constraints and High Frequency Checks. The data analyst is expected to develop this new work stream under minimal supervision, establishing good collaboration between units.
  • Lead the development of a Data Quality Reliability Score, its integration into the Ecosystem and roll-out to COs.
  • Lead the testing and rollout of DataBridges for processes covering the assessment data generation, in close collaboration with the data and systems unit.
  • Lead development and validation of standard scripts for analysis and visualisation of household data.
  • Provide technical VAM support to Country Offices to enhance food security assessment, data management and analysis.
  • Support IPC analyses as requested.
  • Support the development of new indicators

Representing APP-FA in joint fora and processes with the Data and Systems unit to ensure close collaboration.

  • Ad hoc tasks as requested.
