As part of the Inner Circle, we’re called upon to contribute to Microsoft’s own business applications strategy and the aspects that impact partners like us.
    This role is an internally focused role, that will report into our cross functional Business Systems team. You will also work closely with our Microsoft Data and Analytics teams to support our reporting needs, our data lake, several major systems initiatives, and ongoing creation and maintenance of reports to support our ELT, SLT and Operational Leaders. You will love this role if you are someone who likes to take on technical challenges, thinks outside the box to deliver reporting insights, and keeps up with the latest and greatest Microsoft has to offer.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Power BI expertise: In-depth knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Service, and administration, with the ability to design and implement complex data models, reports, and dashboards.
  • Data modeling: A strong understanding of dimensional modeling concepts (including Kimball) and best practices for building efficient and scalable data models in Power BI.
  • DAX proficiency: The ability to write complex DAX formulas to manipulate and analyse data, creating dynamic and insightful reports.
  • Data transformation expertise: Proficiency in Power Query (M) for data cleansing, transformation, and shaping within Power BI.
  • Data integration: Experience integrating data from various sources (relational databases, cloud storage, APIs) into Power BI using best practices for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT).
  • T-SQL skills: The ability to write efficient T-SQL queries to extract, manipulate and test data from relational databases for use in Power BI.
  • Microsoft Fabric and Azure familiarity: Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft Fabric and the Azure cloud platform, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Gen2, and Azure SQL Database.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING CONSULTING CAPABILITIES:

  • Effectively gather requirements through interviews, workshops, and user stories, ensuring a clear understanding of needs and goals.
  • Excellent documentation skills including developing functional and technical specifications, as well as assisting with the creation of accurate estimates.
  • Confidence in designing and delivering effective training sessions for end-users on Power BI and Microsoft Fabric functionalities and best practices.
  • Presents well with clear written and verbal communications. Able to communicate with a wide range of people and present information and solutions to a variety of audiences, tailoring communication style to different levels of technical expertise.
  • Strong time management and coordination skills and the ability to manage and prioritise competing tasks across multiple work streams.

IT IS ADVANTAGEOUS TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

  • Report design principles: Knowledge of data visualisation best practices and the ability to create clear, concise, and visually appealing reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with Lakehouse architecture.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms; AWS, Snowflake, Informatica
  • Experience with reporting/visualisation tools including Cognos, Tableau, Qlik
  • Experience with ELT and Modelling tools; including dbt, Coalesce, and WhereScape
  • Experience with advanced analytics using ML models.
  • Microsoft technical certifications
  • PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
  • DP-600: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
  • DP-203: Azure Data Engineer Associate
