REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with hands-on experience in data integration, ETL processes, and data pipeline development.
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
  • Excellent programming skills (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
  • Skills in optimizing SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools and techniques, including Snowpipe, Matillion, Apache Kafka or similar real-time and periodic data processing tools.
  • Proven experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse.
  • Experience in data modeling (e.g., Kimball, Data Vault 2.0).
  • Experience in collaborative work using Git in a DevOps environment.
  • Domain knowledge within Aviation is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and governance.
  • Basic experience with Data Science, MLOps, or Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Proficiency in determining and realizing business requirements.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. That means being flexible and willing to jump in and do whatever it takes to be successful.
  • Fluent written and spoken in English, good communicaton in German.

Responsibilities:

The role of the Data Engineer involves developing and managing robust data architectures, systems, and processes that enables airline operator and aircraft maintenance specific functions (e.g., Airline Safety, Flight Operations, Maintenance, Engineering) to easily access and efficiently utilize large amounts of data for improved decision making. Based on those architectures, the role also conducts analysis and creates modern visualizations.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines to process and manage large datasets.
  • Integrate raw data from various sources into a centralized data warehouse or data lake, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Design and optimize Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure data is clean, accurate, and available for analysis.
  • Develop and maintain data models and schemas to support business intelligence and data analytics needs.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies to ensure data privacy, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for data infrastructure, processes, and workflows.
  • Create engaging dashboards and reports.
  • Strengthen and innovatively advance the BI and analytics architecture.
