Data Engineer
Hybrid - Swindon or London
Competitive Salary + Annual Bonus
As a Data Engineer, your primary responsibility is to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure on our platform. You will work with various data sources, load and transform data into appropriate formats, and ensure data quality and reliability. Additionally, you will collaborate cross-functionally to understand data requirements and implement scalable solutions for data processing, storage, and analysis. Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, Quicksight, and knowledge of a languages like Python and SQL is essential for this role.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure on AWS
  • Unit Testing
  • Collaborate with business analysts to refine user requirements
  • Provide work estimates to aid in overall planning
  • Proactively suggest ideas to improve the data platform and ways of working
  • Troubleshoot production issues when escalated
  • Documentation

What we want from you:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Proven track record of data pipeline development on AWS
  • Proven track record of working with IaC
  • Proven track record of working with git
  • Strong working knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Strong working knowledge of data management inside a datalake
  • Proven ability to explain technical issues and solutions to peers and customers
  • Proven ability to independently progress and complete tasks
  • Strong desire to learn new skills and adapt new technologies

Beneficial Experience:

  • Experience using Terraform
  • Experience working in an Agile framework
  • Experience in the financial services sector
