What You’ll Be Doing:
We are seeking a dynamic Data Engineer to join our team at Evolent to shape the future of healthcare. This role is perfect for someone passionate and proactive about working on new ideas towards the solution side.
The role combines a passion for improving data quality and integrity and applies innovation and creative thinking to develop a continuous data improvement framework.
Collaboration Opportunities:
This position will play a critical role in interacting with other data Scientists and cross-functional organizations including engineering, delivering, subject-matter experts, product managers, as well as platform engineers to deliver a scalable framework.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Independently understand all aspects of a business problem including those unrelated to their area of expertise, weigh the pros and cons of different approaches, and suggest ones likely to succeed.
  • Work with a cross-functional organization including engineering, delivering, subject-matter experts, product managers, as well as platform engineers to deliver a scalable framework.
  • Map the customer data into Evolent canonical form. Identify and ingest noncanonical fields and generalize the process to a minimal level of customization.
  • Proactively design and adapt the canonical form to suit changing query patterns and needs.
  • Ultimately own data availability and quality for the Data Science organization.
  • Streaming technologies like kafka , spark streaming etc.

Qualifications Required and Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field. (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience regarding out how to clean up and get data from Evolent systems & customer systems. (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience with the use of a programming/scripting language (Python, and Advanced SQL) for building data pipelines. (Required)
  • 2-3 years of experience in automating the manual processes of data transfer while designing for scalability. (Required)
  • Experience in ETL orchestration and workflow management tools with a strong preference for Apache Airflow. (Required)
  • Experience in Spark or other distributed computing frameworks. (Preferred)
  • Kubernetes and building Docker images and cloud platform (AWS & GCP). (Preferred)
  • Experience working with APIs to collect or ingest data. (Preferred)

Technical Requirements:
We require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. These at-home technical requirements are subject to change with any scheduled re-opening of our office locations.

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $130,000 - $140,000. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. As part of our total compensation package, Evolent is proud to offer comprehensive benefits (including health insurance benefits) to qualifying employees. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts
