  • Data Product Development: Design and implement scalable data products that serve the needs of various business units while adhering to data mesh principles.
  • Data Integration: Build and maintain data pipelines that integrate disparate data sources, ensuring data is accessible and reliable.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with domain teams and clients to understand their data needs and provide solutions that enhance data discovery and usability.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce data quality standards, establish data quality frameworks and implementing best practices for data governance.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data products, pipelines, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data processing workflows for performance and efficiency, leveraging appropriate technologies.
  • Tooling and Technology: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and mesh architectures, recommending tools that enhance our capabilities.

Überzeugendes Profil

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in a data mesh environment.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C# and strong experience with data integration tools and ETL processes (e.g. dbt).
  • Familiarity with data storage solutions (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Snowflake, data lakes) and knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related data- and data-monitoring services.
  • Experience with data modelling, data warehousing, and analytics tools as well as in model development both statistical and machine learning, including MLOps.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Additional strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good English (mandatory) skills, German is a plus.
  • Knowledge in Energy Trading Sector is a plus.

EnBW is one of the largest energy suppliers in Germany and Europe, serving 5.5 million customers with electricity, gas, and energy-related products and services. The trading IT within its trading business unit provides a range of tools, methods, and services to meet trading needs.
EnBW Trading is data-driven, requiring extensive information on trade lifecycles, markets, meteorological data, asset data, and client insights. Trading decisions are based on data insights using flexible solutions for data handling and visualization.
To support trading dynamics and opportunities, a Data Backbone architecture has been established. It offers essential technical components for data domains (e.g., Market Data, PostTrade) and supports both operational and analytical data stores for real-time and delayed data. All architecture components are cloud only.
The team works remotely most of the time, but we meet regularly at our offices in Karlsruhe, Germany. Paired with our flexible working times this ensures you work where (in Germany) and when it suits you best.
