The role of digital services is increasing, be it in ensuring smooth and reliable operations, distributing and retailing our product offering, providing our people with state-of-the-art tools to do their work or making the customer journeys easy and enjoyable.
We are looking for a
DATA ENGINEER (People & Common)
to join Finnair’s People & Common Solutions team in Digital Services.
As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in developing our cloud-based data platform and, together with the team, will help advance fact-based decision making at Finnair. The People & Common Solutions team plays a crucial role in supporting Finnair’s People & Culture, Finance & Procurement, and other Group Functions, as well as driving our Generative AI agenda and Intelligent Automation efforts forward. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Finnair team!

Responsibilities:

DEPENDING ON YOUR EXPERIENCE AND PROFILE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

  • Developing data pipelines and data solutions, such as data models and data marts, for various use-cases.
  • Analysing content, quality, and lineage of the datasets under development.
  • Proactively working together with team members, data platform team and business stakeholders to make the most out of the data available to us.
  • Documentation: contributing to common documentation on architecture, working principles, owning the solution description documentation.
  • Exploration of new technology and tools: regularly checking what are the current options, latest versions, etc. to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Continuous improvement of practices: increasing productivity and optimizing the use of resources.
  • Representing People & Common Solutions team in data platform transformation project including technical data solution design

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL HAVE:

  • Analytical, business minded, and a proactive and independent working style.
  • Capacity to translate business needs to technical requirements.
  • Hands on experience in the AWS environment with services like S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, SQS, Kinesis, Airflow, Python, Spark, etc.
  • Hands on experience with SQL, Snowflake, dbt and dimensional modelling methodology.
  • Experience in building and automating data pipelines for batch processing and streaming.
  • The experience of working with employee and financial data (SAP data specifically) and understanding of employee data compliance is seen as an advantage.
