The Data & Analytics team at Loblaw is hiring a Data Engineer II with experience in building cloud-based modern data platforms from the ground up. Reporting to the Director – Data Engineering, the incumbent will be responsible for ingesting, wrangling, cleansing and delivering data to power our Analytics, BI and ML/AI capabilities. The successful candidate will be passionate about data and have a strong foundation of data management concepts and engineering best practices.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Build and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines.
• Build and maintain an API gateway to manage integration points between the data platform and other applications and data consumers.
• Build end-to-end processes supporting data ingestion, data transformations, data wrangling, data cleansing and data delivery.
• Explore opportunities for optimization of existing data pipelines and re-designing of data infrastructure for greater scalability and performance.
• Build and maintain a repository of metadata and lineage information about how data flows through its lifecycle.
• Assist with data-related technical challenges and perform root-cause analysis to answer specific business questions and recommend and implementing ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality.
• Contributes to the development and documentation of data management standards framework.
• Mentor and cross-train junior data engineers.
