QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer (mid-level role).
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake) and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Extract, Transform, and Load processes and tools like Apache NiFi, Talend, or Informatica.
  • Work knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and data visualisation tools (Looker, Tableau, or Power BI) for creating dashboards and reports.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Continuous integration and deployment practices (CI/CD pipelines).

SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a focus on performance optimisation and data quality.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience with real-time data processing (e.g., Kafka, Flink).
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI data pipelines is a plus.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports the collection, storage, and analysis of large volumes of data.
Your work will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create efficient data pipelines, optimising database performance, and ensuring data are accessible, reliable, and secure.
  • Develop and optimise data architectures, including databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
  • Implement data governance and security measures to ensure data quality, consistency, and privacy.
  • Automate data workflows to ensure reliable and timely data availability for stakeholders.
  • Monitor and improve the performance of data infrastructure and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and other teams to ensure integration and availability of data for various business needs.
  • Proficiency in ETL processes, data modelling, and working with cloud platforms is essential.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL) and experience with big data technologies (Fivetran and Snowflake) are key to this role.
