JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Data Engineer (Snowflake + Azure) to join a growing team in a hybrid role based in the Twin Cities area. This position is a key part of a small but effective team working with cutting-edge analytics and AI technologies that directly influence internal and external operations. The organization is expanding its use of modern data platforms, including Snowflake and Microsoft Azure, to drive innovation and business growth.

In this role, you will work on mission-critical projects, designing and implementing data solutions that will shape the company’s future. You will collaborate directly with IT leadership to develop scalable architectures and enhance data-driven decision-making.

  • Develop solutions that maximize the capabilities of Snowflake, DBT (Data Build Tool), and Microsoft Azure, along with other key technologies.
  • Serve as the in-house expert on the Snowflake ecosystem and its best practices.
  • Design and implement a modern data warehouse with a focus on data quality and governance.
  • Lead the transition from Azure Synapse Analytics to a Snowflake-based analytics environment.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to improve decision-making through data insights.
  • Guide platform and technology selections, ensuring efficient solution implementation.
  • Maintain clear, concise documentation covering BI solutions, integrations, configurations, APIs, and other interfaces.
  • Help build AI and ML capabilities within the organization.
  • Automate data processes using tools such as Snowpipe, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Omnata, and Fivetran.
  • Operate within an Agile development environment, ensuring team efficiency.
  • Implement best practices to support enterprise-wide usability of data solutions.
  • Manage data-related projects, including the transition to Snowflake

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of combined experience with Snowflake and Azure Data Factory.
  • Strong background in data warehousing, Azure Data Lake Storage, DBT, Azure Functions, and Jupyter Notebooks (Python).
  • Ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to data platform strategy.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of database query languages and management (SQL Server, T-SQL, DB2, SnowSQL, etc.).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft-based BI solutions (Azure AI, Power BI, etc.).
  • Certifications in Snowflake or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with reporting and machine learning tools such as Power BI, Copilot, or Azure ML.
  • Experience integrating data with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC).
  • Previous engagement with Microsoft and Snowflake Communities.
  • Exposure to data synchronization tools that work with Snowflake (Snowpipe, Omnata, etc.).
  • Understanding of Snowpark and other data integration solutions.
