Description:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a senior data engineer or similar role, with proven expertise in developing and implementing data strategies
- Strong understanding and experience with modern data warehouse solutions like Snowflake, and proficiency in cloud platforms such as Azure
- Thorough grasp of data governance and security principles. Experience in implementing data governance frameworks and practices to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance
- Experience in data pipelines and ETL/ELT tools e.g. dbt/Azure Data Factory/Synapse
- Proficiency in SQL and Python programming languages
- Strong understanding of full-stack development principles and technologies (e.g, backend languages, APIs)
- Extensive experience with DevOps (Git, Azure DevOps, CI / CD, PowerShell / Bash scripts)
- Experience in designing and implementing data quality frameworks
- A good understanding of data patterns, data modelling, and product migration
- Good to have skills include data visualization e.g. Power BI
- Familiarity with AI/ML platforms and data preparation for ML initiatives is a plus
Responsibilities:
YOUR NEW ROLE
The Data & Analytics team are responsible for the entire cycle from data infrastructure to insight and data strategy. Over the last year, we have developed a new data platform powered by Snowflake and successfully delivered several analytics use cases for the business. We are currently focused on a migration project and redesign of the data warehouse and reporting suite.
The Lead Data Engineer is a new role in our organisation and a fantastic opportunity to own and refine the data engineering processes at Survitec. You can expect a combination of hands-on work and technical leadership, including mentoring of the team. This role reports to the Director of Data & Analytics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data platform architecture and data model aligned with business objectives
- Design, build and manage a modern data platform leveraging modern solutions (e.g. Azure, Snowflake, dbt , Matillion)
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines and infrastructure using DevOps tools and methodologies
- Implement data governance and security best practices to ensure data quality, compliance, and manage metadata
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, develop data models, and build analytics tools for reporting, analytics, and AI/ML initiatives
- Stay updated on emerging data technologies, recommend innovations, and evaluate data maturity /recommend new technologies
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring to data engineers in the team
- Monitoring end-to-end operational processes and overseeing the development and maintenance of data pipelines to ensure quality, reliability, security, and scalability
