Description:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school or equivalent, preferred.
  • Type 50 words per minute accurately.
  • CPT and ICD-10 coding, preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office, preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Customer Service
  • Ability to utilize a desktop computer, keyboard, and mouse.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting for long periods of time.

Responsibilities:

  • The Data Entry Clerk’s primary responsibility is to enter accounts receivable data into the computer system. The accuracy of these entries is of the utmost importance to the Clinic.
  • It is the responsibility of this individual to report any problems with the system to the Billing & Coding Manager immediately.
  • The Data Entry Clerk must be well acquainted with the computer system, CPT and ICD-10 coding and with the Clinic’s charges.
  • This individual must be available to assist the Billing & Coding Manager in monitoring the overall efficiency of the Department to ensure accurate patient and insurance billing.
  • They must possess knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Requires being exact or highly accurate.
  • Requires meeting strict deadlines.
  • Enter daily batches.
  • Print reports as necessary.
  • Run batch reports after daily transactions have been posted.
  • Work with no-bill accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Stay informed of MD office changes.
  • Order necessary data processing forms.
  • Assist with training of new employees.
  • Write surgery charges.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor and administrative staff.
  • Ability to make decisions that affect other people and or/the image and reputation of the practice.
  • Adhere to company policies and protocol.
  • Other duties as assigned.
