The Position: We are looking for a candidate who will serve as a Data Fusion Systems Engineer to support PMA-265, the Weapon System Acquisition Program and the F-18 team.
Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 annually, based upon an individual’s level of experience, skillset, and education. THE DESCRIPTION:

The Data Fusion Systems Engineer will be responsible for defining and managing requirements at both the platform and component levels for the Data Fusion IPT (Integrated Product Team). The role requires close collaboration with various IPTs within PMA-265, external entities such as PMA-298, and subject matter experts from the Advanced Weapons Laboratory (AWL). The candidate will lead and support key tasks including requirements generation, system integration, verification processes, and the development of modeling and simulation tools. Lead the evaluation, development, and integration of data fusion algorithms and techniques for F-18 aircraft systems. Key responsibilities include:

Management:

  • Define top-level and lower-level requirements for data fusion systems in conjunction with SMEs from AWL and IPTs within PMA-265.
  • Reference existing DRMs from platforms such as the Super Hornet and Growler.
  • Interface regularly with SCS Engineering for guidance on requirement documentation, verification methods, and system configuration control.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements throughout the development and integration lifecycle, ensuring no gaps and proper flow down/up the requirement chain.

Modeling and Simulation:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a Data Fusion Evaluation Tool, currently being built in AFSIM by Toyon.
  • Facilitate collaboration between AWL, Toyon, and other SMEs to ensure proper use of the tool for data fusion system comparisons.
  • Review deliverables, identify metric deficiencies, and contribute to the enhancement of system assessment capabilities.

Data Fusion System Integration:

  • Interface with Raytheon and Boeing to facilitate the integration of new data fusion systems onto the platform.
  • Set up and lead engineering reviews, identify required artifacts, and ensure schedules are met.
  • Oversee system modifications and assess risks based on performance data during verification testing and flight-testing phases.
  • Coordinate integration efforts and lead technical integration meetings (TIMs) with stakeholders.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Active DoD Top-Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant work experience in data fusion, signal processing, or sensor integration (military aviation experience preferred).
  • Excellent multitasking abilities, able to handle and prioritize various tasks to achieve goals.
  • Adaptive to change and comfortable with shifting project gears when necessary.
  • Strong decision-making abilities based on thorough analysis, experience, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, representing own interests while fostering common goals for the benefit of all stakeholders.Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including TEAMS.

DESIRED SKILLSET:

  • Strong background in requirements generation, software integration, data fusion algorithms, or signal processing.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation, preferably in defense-related applications.
  • Familiarity with Navy procurement processes, and knowledge of NAWCAD and NAWCWD organizations.
  • Understanding of military data links and communication systems in aircraft platforms is a plus.
