The Data Governance & Enablement Manager is responsible for establishing and leading and developing a team within our newly created global Enterprise Data function. The role must help the organisation strike the balance between meeting our obligations to protect the interests of internal and external data stakeholders and creating a data culture where data is readily accessible to everyone who needs it. This position will take a key role working across the IT Governance Uplift project which will focus on the review and uplift of our compliance policies and procedures. This role will have a focus on collaborating with the wider Technology team to create an understanding across Pepperstone’s data landscape.

As our Data Governance & Enablement Manager, your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Establish the Data Governance Organisation, including defining roles and responsibilities for Data Owners, Data Stewards and Data Custodians to drive ownership and accountability
  • Establish a framework, register and RACI for tracking data management risks
  • Define metrics and a scorecard to track the uplift of Data Governance over time
  • Drive the approach to the observability and classification of information assets and structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • Collaborate with our IT Governance Uplift project and other key stakeholders to review and uplift our compliance policies and procedures, including data access, records retention and disposal, right to be forgotten requests, data subject access requests, data masking, data collection, data usage and data breach response, etc.
  • Collaborate with the wider Technology team to to create a shared understanding of our overall data landscape, including data domains, applications, source of truth / trusted replicas / other copies of data and data flows
  • Select, implement and drive adoption of a data catalogue for our structured and semi-structured data, BI and ETL
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify our most critical data elements and understand their value and desired quality characteristics across a variety of dimensions
  • Establish technical and business data quality controls, monitoring and remediation planning
  • Establish processes for Data Governance to interact with our overall delivery methodology, including Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Governance Impact Assessments as part of project ideation, solution design and change management
  • Collaborate with the wider Enterprise Data team to establish our approach to Reference and Master Data Management
