Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director, Information Management & Reporting, the Data Management Analyst is responsible for tracking the maturation of enterprise data management against an established framework, collaborating with data owners, data stewards, and data custodians, and contributing to activities in pursuit of the establishment of an enterprise data catalogue.

Primary Duties:

  • Support all data governance workstream activities, data governance council secretary duties, documentation of data governance roles, and the institutionalization of data governance practices
  • Support cross-functional working groups related to information management and reporting
  • Contribute to the potential selection and implementation of an enterprise data catalogue tool, in partnership with IT
  • Develop and work with subject matter experts to maintain metadata documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data assets
  • Develop business documentation, training, and demos to ensure proper usage and adherence to processes and procedures related to data governance and report assets
  • Develop and deliver training materials on the content, usage, and limitations of various data sets, in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Capture and define business requirements for new data related initiatives
  • Conduct regular data management maturity assessments
  • Work with the Data Governance Council to support the development of the Data Strategy, Data Management Strategy and the Data Governance Model.
  • Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, and data custodians to support compliance with data management standards, and guidelines.
  • Promote best practices for data quality, governance and security
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to optimize data assets and data management processes, through automation and business process improvements
  • Develop report lifecycle management best practices and procedures, including a gap analysis of current state
  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to define data management, data retention and data disposal policies and associated policy instruments
  • Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in data management and data governance

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Health Information Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in data management, data governance, or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of data management best practices, data quality, data governance, and data security
  • Familiarity with data catalog tools such as Purview, Collibra, Alation, or Informatica
  • Knowledge of data integration, data lineage, and data quality tools
  • Experience with SQL, data modeling, and data analysis
  • Ability to work collaboratively with IT and business stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data management or data governance certification (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional)
  • Experience with Cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge of Federal or Provincial data privacy and data protection regulations (e.g., FOIPPA)
  • Agile development experience
  • Healthcare and/or Health Insurance industry experience
