This is an exciting opportunity to join DIO as Major Programmes & Projects (MPP) Data Manager. DIO MPP is seeking a forward thinking, self-motivated individual. The Data Manager will work across the Portfolio Office to support and improve successful programme and project data structures and outputs. Working closely with the PfO community, you will look for ways to enhance MPP’s data offering. You will be proactive in promoting and championing data standards and maintain the strategic view of current and longer-term programmes of work.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role holder will be responsible for the following
Ensure data warehouse conforms with all agreed DIO processes and operating procedures, and particularly those which are detailed under the Federated Data Architecture
Maintenance of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence tools linked to key DIO systems (including Risk, scheduling and cost data tools).
Development and maintenance of the data tools that underpin key reporting and support to development of future reporting requirements across the directorate.
Ongoing development of the data warehouse to enable new reporting requirements.
Working across the wider Data Systems Information and Tools team to facilitate ongoing development of both existing and new tools to enable future data requirements.
Will drive the development of new Business Intelligence and data exploitation tools to deliver best practice reporting
Will work with both Excellence Group and wider organisation to identify digitalisation and automation opportunities for information and data

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
