As Data Platforms and Smart Services Senior Engineer you’ll be involved in the selection of vendors in our technical area (PCRF, SecureNet, MPN, Steering function, Optimization) and you’ll be responsible for the definition and validation of the high-level architecture, HLD and LLD. You will have the technical leadership of defining configuration guidelines and setting sizing and functionality/performance targets. You’ll create a 1-3 years evolution plan aligned with the overall Data Core strategy and other technology areas such as PS Core and IP LAN.
You will take on the support and execution of solution acceptance and assist in the deployment of the platforms with the Engineering Delivery Team. In addition, you will deliver innovative technology products for Vodafone Business customers by combining applied methodologies and innovative thinking. You’ll be responsible for the high-value design specifications and solution for those customers.
You’ll express your technical leadership in a multi-national virtual project team, interacting with other senior engineers and with relevant internal customers and stakeholders. In this context the ability to manage and negotiate on priorities is fundamental.
You will work mainly on PCRF and PCF services, but you will also have the chance to be involved in other innovative projects and cutting-edge technologies like 5G SA Core, NaaP (Network as a Platform), MEC and MPN.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DECISION OWNERSHIP

• Evolution Plan
  o Prepare an integrated 1-3 years’ evolution plan aligned with overall Data Core strategy and other technology domains such as PS Core and IP LAN.
  o Identify and target introduction of new functionalities to support excellent customer experience.

o Regularly analyse and check consistency in resilience and performance across Vodafone Operating Companies of designed service.

• Design

o Define, analyse, document and publish relevant design document covering topics such as topology, architecture implementation, vendor management, complexity management, etc.
o Specify detailed guidelines and engineering rules.

o Continuously seek and implement improvements in network planning and design triggered by vendors and other internal stakeholders.

• Dimensioning

o Guarantee the capacity management to support service growth.
o Work with execution units to monitor applicability of coherent dimensioning criteria across the networks and vendor solutions.
o Monitor closely and analyse/react to changes in usage and forecasting affecting network load or functionality.

o Ensure network harmonisation and standardization across countries.

• Engineering and Testing.

o Define technical specifications for the integration of the solution into the network.
o Define testing specifications for homologation, evaluation and integration of new functionalities and new software releases.

CORE COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Extensive knowledge in Mobile Networks services and solutions, their challenges, requirements and development issues and their impact on customer experience.
• End-2-end visibility across different implementations and Vodafone Operating Companies specific customisations, to consistently manage issues related with technology and its implementation /harmonisation in different local market.
• Good relationships with key stakeholders for data services such as Network Architecture, in country commercial/project teams, Vendors and Group P&S. Ability to manage and effectively evolve these relationships in the European organisation context.
• High sensitivity to operational and execution challenges and issues coming from the clusters and specific Vodafone Operating Companies in order to consider them effectively and consistently.
• Ability to help define and target a vision in line with the business strategy and aspirations for Vodafone data services customers.

MUST HAVE TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree: telecommunication degree, 3/5 years of experience.
• Solid knowledge of Mobile NW architecture.
• Good stakeholder’s management .
• Analytical skills to address complexity of requirements, scenarios and change.
• Strong cost and performance orientation with experience in complex project management.
• Ability to work in virtual team across multi-functional and multi-cultural boundaries to deliver results/change.
• Project Management skills.
• Innovative and Results oriented.
