Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
Showbie is looking for a Data Privacy & Compliance Specialist that will support the business in the governance of data compliance, ensure our teams comply with laws, regulations and best practices related to data handling. This posting is for a temporary 18 month position covering a maternity leave on the team. This role involves identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and implementing governance frameworks. The Data Privacy & Compliance Specialist will work closely with various departments (including Legal, Product, Engineering, Sales and Customer Experience) to align their activities with the organization’s strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the main point of contact and an expert in privacy compliance.
- Collaborate with Product development teams to ensure data compliance of software changes.
- Respond to third-party requests, including customer questions, related to Showbie’s information security and compliance activities.
- Author and review privacy and information security resources, policies and procedures for both internal teams and customer facing content.
- Perform risk assessments and business impact analysis on new vendors, technologies and system implementations.
- Coordinate and track information technology and security-related audits and assessments.
- Develop and implement training programs and raise awareness of data protection and privacy issues among internal teams.
- Coordinate responses to privacy incidents and breaches, internal audits, investigations and interact with local data protection authorities, when required.
- Assist with ensuring Showbie’s continued compliance with all applicable requirements, policies, and regulations.
