The Data Protection and Freedom of Information team sits within UCL’s Office of General Counsel and is responsible for providing advice on a wide range of data protection and freedom of information matters relating to the University.

ABOUT YOU

For this job you’ll need a minimum of ‘GCSE’ level standard education or equivalent, with experience of working in a busy customer-focused environment. You will also need to be able to work confidentially and pro-actively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
You’ll have excellent organisational and planning skills including attention to detail and accuracy, and time management skills with the ability to handle several tasks at the same time. You will also need experience of building relationships and successfully collaborating with internal stakeholders. You will be expected to carry out your duties with tact and diplomacy, and an understanding of and respect for the principles of confidentiality.
Relevant Data Protection and/or Freedom of Information professional experience is a big plus. But if you don’t have this, but feel you tick our other boxes, we’d still love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Administrator, you will be a member of the University’s Data Protection and Freedom of Information team within the Office of General Counsel. In this job you’ll be responsible for handling the administrative side of UCL’s day to day compliance with the UK GDPR, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIRs). You’ll provide high-level day-to day organisation and administrative support to the Data Protection team.
This post is a full-time (1.0 FTE) fixed-term position available until October 2025.
Please note: This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
