TECHNICAL SKILLS AND TRACK RECORD

  • You have 5-8 years professional experience with Data Protection activities and related legal experience preferably in a banking environment and you are familiar with security and IT ecosystems;
  • You have in depth knowledge on GDPR regulation;
  • You have excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across functional and geographic lines;
  • You have a university degree, preferably in Law, or equivalent knowledge/experience;
  • You are excellent in English (verbal/written) and have good communication skills.

Responsibilities:

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Global Delegated Data Protection Officer

  • You participate in global programs to help the first line of defense to be compliant with data protection laws and regulations. You are also responsible to advice and challenge on data retention obligations;
  • You are responsible for coordinating global data breach events and for reporting and follow up on this towards the Local DPO’s and for reporting to the Lead Supervisory Authority, if applicable;
  • You are responsible for steering on consistency in approach and interpretation of the Data Protection and Data Retention Policies via the DPO community;
  • You provide advice on requests of the Business and challenge their personal data processing via instruments like LIA, DPIA, and TIA within the global scope of the Data Protection Compliance vertical, which means personal data processing covering global/multi country activities and solutions;
  • You will support final decision making on specific files and in monitoring that solutions (agreed upon with the business) are implemented;
  • You will support the Global Lead DP Policy & Advisory in communication with the Data Protection Authority and other stakeholders;
  • You will act as a mentor to the DP Advisory team members;
  • You will oversee completeness of coverage of ING’s geographical areas;
  • You are confident to deliver all of the above in an autonomous way. As a senior member of the team you are expected to proactively come up with recommendations and improvement proposals as well as build a strong collaboration relationship with the other members of the team.

You will work within the vertical Data Protection Compliance, a new department within the Compliance Department of ING Bank NV. Data Protection is an important risk area with growing interest from both internal and external stakeholders. Within this role:

  • you will have the opportunity to use your discerning and inquisitive mind, ability to think on the go, excellent communication and stakeholder management and ability think on the go to understand complex global initiatives and structural data protection projects to ensure that personal data processing activities are performed in a compliant manner;
  • you are focused on managing, advising and challenging risks related to the individual/data subject arising from processing of personal data by ING. Personal Data Protection is a key compliance risk that the bank needs to manage;
  • you are a senior member of the Global Data Protection Policy & Advisory team that ensures quality on advice & challenge of each processing of personal data with global (i.e., covering more than one country) impact. You will supervise and provide hands on support in the Data Protection Advisory team
