Description:
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOU
- Professional qualification in Data Protection or a related area of law such as CIPP/E, BCS, CIPM or ISEB.
- Experience of providing advice on compliance with the relevant legislation and internal policies and procedures applicable to information governance.
- Excellent people management skills and the ability to drive forward a team.
- Detailed knowledge of the legal frameworks applicable to information governance (including Data Protection, General Data Protection Regulations, Freedom of Information, and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004) and their application.
- Thorough understanding of records management principles and practice and experience of writing polices and the ability to build a new records management system from concept through to implementation as part of Action for Children’s plans to update its existing systems.

A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to join Action for Children as a Data Protection Officer in a time of transformation of our data protection practices. Reporting to the Director of Governance, Risk & Compliance, you will have responsibility for strategically developing, delivering, and leading on organisational compliance with all legislation, regulations and best practice relating to the governance and management of information.
You will also lead the development of an Information Governance to drive forward best practice within the organisation and to establish and embed, to achieve transformational change in the management of information governance.
