Description:
Reporting to the Director, Health Information Management and Patient Registration, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for working with the Health Information Management coding team. In this capacity, the Data Quality Analyst is responsible for coordinating activities designed to improve the collection of all inpatient, day surgery, emergency, dialysis and oncology coding at all NH sites. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the coding functionality, data quality, consistency and analysis of same. Responsibility includes coordinating education and training activities. Working closely with the Managers, Decision Support, Finance, Information Technology and physicians, this individual will play an integral role in ensuring the accuracy, comprehensiveness, consistency and validity of collected data and personal health information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Certification in Health Information Management
o Minimum of five to seven years coding experience in an acute care hospital environment
o Must be a current member in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association
o Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CA/CCI, MOH coding standards, directives and funding methodologies
o Demonstrates knowledge of principles and practices related to all functions of Health Information Management including Health Records and Patient Registration application module experience
o Exceptional organizational, analytical and computer skills including working knowledge of Crystal report writing
o Displays superior interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with many diverse groups including Decision Support, Clinicians, Information Systems and HIM coding staff
o Demonstrates effective customer service, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision making skills
o Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
o Demonstrates strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, Meditech, and internet navigation
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
