Description:
We are looking for a Data Science Advisor for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, software engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, data analytics, machine learning, or a related field
- Proficiency in Git, R, Python, and SQL
- Master’s degree in data science, software engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field is an asset
- Professional Engineering designation is an asset
- Experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset
- Experience with Databricks is an asse
Responsibilities:
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Data Science Advisor involves working closely with various business units to develop innovative applications of data science and machine learning. You’ll be responsible for solving key business problems using advanced data science techniques, monitoring the adoption of these solutions, and tracking their realized value. Additionally, you’ll promote data science best practices across the organization by maintaining documentation, conducting training sessions, providing mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop internal tools and end-to-end machine learning solutions
- Advise on solution approaches, strategies, methodologies, code, architecture, pipelines, and other solution components
- Utilize big data tools in cloud-enabled environments to access and integrate large datasets for sophisticated analysis
- Collaborate closely with Data & IT teams, including Data Governance, Data Engineering, and Data Visualization teams
- Build and deploy custom interfaces using frameworks like Streamlit, Dash, and Shiny
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and advance cloud/data science opportunities
- Drive the adoption of data science best practices and provide training and mentorship to upskill others in the organization
