Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Data Science Intern - Government Analytics for our winter internship program. The Data Scientist intern will be reporting to the Data Science Manager. This is a full-time internship opportunity that is based at our office in Richmond, British Colombia and is up to 8 months in length, starting in early January 2025.
As a Data Scientist Intern on the Defence and Government Services Analytics portfolio you will have to combine the skills of a developer and a detective, drawing on a wide palette of mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and programming techniques to unravel mysteries too subtle for the naked eye. You will get to work closely with our customers, building their trust, studying their problems and business needs, and you will blend artistry with science to visualize and explain your findings and stories.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student with an accredited university or college with studies in Computer Science or similar technical discipline
- Must be at least a 2nd year or higher student with studies in a relevant program
- Provide consent to Canadian Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) assessment and willing and eligible to work on government and defence-related programs
- Experience working with Python
- Willing and able to work 40 hours per week during the internship
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
- Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods
- Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE):
- Previous internship experience
- Working towards a Master’s degree
- Domain knowledge in the aviation & aerospace industry
- Project management knowledge (PMBOK, Agile, Kanban)
- Graduates are ineligible unless continuing in post graduate studies.
