  • Interested in research in the fields of geospatial data, climate, environment, or sustainabilityExperience in data transformation using R, Python, Pandas, Numpy, SQL or Excel
  • Knowledge of GIS tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, and Google Earth Engine
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and Google Looker Studio
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with good logical aptitude
  • Independent worker as well as good team player with a strong sense of ownership
  • Currently enrolled in a B.Sc. or M.Sc. (Geography, Environmental Sciences, Earth System Science, Data/Computer Engineering, Data Science, Statistics or similar)

Responsibilities:

YOUR TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

We are developing cutting-edge software to identify and analyze climate change risk exposure of companies and real estate investments. Our models simulate nature and physical risks into insightful metrics for investors. We want to help investors for decision-making by exposing different types of climate risks and providing insightful and actionable data. For this, we are looking for an intern with background in location datasets and geospatial analysis. One of MSCI Climate Risk Center’s key capabilities is our GeoSpatial dataset which is also a key input into our many of our climate models such as physical risk and biodiversity risk.
In this role, you would contribute into shaping the future of our GeoSpatial product by enhancing the dataset and improving its quality. You will also work closely with our different internal teams to analyze the data, visualize it and improve it.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the team in administrative tasks, as well as in the development of new features of our GeoSpatial product.
  • Work with other research teams, our development team, and other stakeholders so that they can make best use out of the asset location data.
  • Work on data science projects related to climate risks potentially including data analysis, statistical analysis, and software development.
  • Work with our data management team, so that new data, which is coming from different sources, is correctly added to the database.
