Description:
JOB SUMMARY
As a member of DMG’s Data & Analytics team, the Manager, Data Science will lead the development of advanced capabilities and analytical tools to enable a deep understanding of how content, marketing, and distribution strategies interact to drive product performance
The right person for this role has tackled complex problems in behavioral segmentation, forecasting and measurement. They will have worked with diverse, large-scale, high-dimensional datasets and possess strong analytical skills. This role requires the ability to turn research into practical business solutions
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of data science experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- Proven experience in developing statistical models and analyses for business use cases in an industry setting. Demonstrated expertise in applying supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, including clustering, regression, and classification
- Experience with causal inference methods
- Experience creating analytical software solutions to scale data analysis
- Expertise manipulating large-scale datasets and interpreting data trends from multiple disparate sources
- Proven track record in managing and executing full-cycle analytics projects
- Proficient in SQL and numerical computing languages such as PySpark/Python, R
- Proficient in data mining within distributed systems such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Google BigQuery
- Proficient with data exploration and visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker
- Experience documenting data requirements, rules and, assumptions
- Experience communicating analytical concepts to a wide range of audiences
- Strong time management with ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple priorities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience building, managing and motivating teams in strategic support functions
- A passion for music and entertainment industry data
- Familiarity with music streaming services (Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, YouTube), social media platforms (TikTok, FB/Instagram, X) and emerging technologies (digital assistants/voice)
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related quantitative field. Master’s degree preferred
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $149,300 - $200,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered
Responsibilities:
- Lead development of analytical frameworks to address business problems across recorded music, publishing, and concerts. Guide data, measurement, and analysis methods. Build automated, scalable, repeatable, and integrated analyses using modern big data architectures within data ecosystems such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Google BigQuery
- Develop decision support tools that assist stakeholders in evaluating business opportunities. Build models (descriptive, predictive, prescriptive) to quantify opportunity size, risks, rewards and analyze trade-offs among strategies, tactics, and environments
- Develop operational metrics to assess the health of brands, products, and campaigns. Apply advanced analytics techniques (data mining, statistical analysis, machine learning) to build out in-depth knowledge of success drivers, analyzing their interactions and contribution to overall business performance
- Build a holistic picture of DMG audiences by analyzing transaction-level user behavior data to identify patterns, uncover opportunities, and create a common understanding of listener preferences and engagement
- Partner with Technology teams to execute on data projects, contributing to solution discovery, design, build and QA
- Closely collaborate with the DMG Data & Analytics team providing mentorship to more junior team members. Partner closely with various stakeholders across the company
