RESPONSIBILITIES
The Ascension Data Sciences Institute (ADSI) was created in July 2019 with the mission of supporting Ascension in achieving its Quadruple Aim with uniquely skilled, high-performing associates who develop analyses, models, and applications to enable Ascension in providing higher value healthcare and making strategic decisions. We recognize that the healthcare environment is a complex ecosystem of rapidly evolving clinical and economic practices that affect patient and provider experience and demands increasingly sophisticated and complex measurement. Our objective is for analytics and data science to play a critical and foundational role in the transformation of care delivery, quality and financial outcomes to enable our organization’s competitive advantage.
We are hiring a Data Scientist, Clinical Transformation to support Ascension’s goal to differentiate ourselves on patient quality and innovation. Clinical Transformation is a rapidly growing division of the company working to leverage health technologies that include AI, wearables, virtual care, personalized patient messaging, and remote patient monitoring - with our team leading analytic efforts around these programs. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting Clinical Transformation initiatives in evaluating program design and effectiveness through experimentation and statistical modeling. You will be integrated within a multi-disciplinary group including other data scientists, analysts, developers, engineers, and medical professionals, supporting the rapid development, monitoring, reporting, and scaling of these digital programs.
As an ideal candidate, you bring a background in research methods and statistical analysis, preferably with experience in clinical research and a track record in academic publishing. Prior experience analyzing large clinical datasets, including EHR, medical coding/billing, and claims data is also desirable. You will bring high technical proficiency in SQL and Python (or R), a proven capacity to communicate complex analyses to a wide range of stakeholders, and enjoy working in a high-performing team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with stakeholders to understand and frame research questions in the context of program objectives and available data
- Conduct and manage experiments such as A/B tests, quasi-experimental designs, and other causal methods, in coordination with Clinical Transformation leaders
- Contribute to the development of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, especially as it relates to the methods and results
- Integrate data from multiple sources and carry out complex statistical analyses involving multivariate regression, multilevel models, and other methods suitable for given research design
- Serve as a subject matter expert on research design and stay abreast of methodological developments in the relevant clinical and academic literature
- Communicate study design, findings, and insights to a range of audiences, including senior management, clinical stakeholders, and other analysts and data scientists across ADSI
