PREFERRED HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:

A highly-qualified candidate should possess:

  • Knowledge of data processing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of relational database principles.
  • Experience with statistical programming languages such as R or Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik
  • Knowledge of data administration in higher education.
  • Experience analyzing publicly available higher education data sources, especially IPEDS.
  • Effective time management, customer service, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and use independent judgment.

Responsibilities:

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Data Analyst will serve as the lead data analytics expert in the analysis of institutional data collected during diagnostic and practitioner-led coaching engagements with NISS partner institutions. They will provide advanced level expertise in managing, manipulating, maintaining/storing, and retrieving routine and complex types of data. The position performs a standard set of quantitative and qualitative analyses to discover opportunities for partner institutions to improve based on granular student outcome data. The process will highlight key metrics and leading indicators of student success that will allow NISS personnel to track progress of partner institutions, as well as identify other potential candidates for NISS services and support. The Data Analyst will work with other NISS analysts and Program Advisors to conduct a detailed review of key student success programmatic areas across institutional partners, including self-reported program maturity and key data points that reveal potential causes of poor student outcomes and performance.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Analyze, interpret, and visualize institutional quantitative data via IPEDS, surveys and other data sources.
  • Respond to data requests by identifying the correct data source, developing the logic to extract the data, and creating insights based on the analysis of the extracted data.
  • Support various research and project collaborations with NISS and GSU partners.
  • Analyze, prepare, and present reports to key stakeholders.
  • Convert data into a variety of useable formats and media.
  • Test, document, and perform quality assurance on data.
  • Develop and test tools which aid in the management, manipulation, maintenance/storage, and retrieval of data.
  • Perform other data administration duties as assigned.
  • Perform analyses using various statistical methods and techniques with a broad range of tools for data manipulation and visualization reporting.
