POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Lead Data Steward is accountable for many aspects of data management. This role must be fluent in data concepts & principles, data governance, and data quality. Their functional knowledge is required to further the aims and objectives of the data governance organization, as well as servicing the data needs of the Business Function(s) for which they are responsible. This individual will be responsible for identifying and cataloging critical data assets for the organization while providing insights and guidance for improving the quality and effectiveness of those assets. This role will be a part of the Data Governance organization, but must closely partner with Business Teams, IT Leads, and Data Consumers to create and execute a comprehensive data strategy.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Create and execute the end-to-end data governance strategy including:

o Supporting multiple data subject areas.
o Identification and documentation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reporting requirements, and analytics.

o Identifying the current source systems of record, data required in the Enterprise Data Hub (or similar repositories), and end reporting solutions/uses, e.g. Tableau and Power BI.

  • Drive the collaborative maintenance of the data catalog/data marketplace and take the lead on “marketing” its use through the usage of a data glossary, data quality and business rules, and assistance with establishing/maintaining KPIs
  • Create and implement reporting metrics on % of artifacts cataloged: applications, tables, fields, glossary items, data quality requirements, established lineage paths, users, etc.
  • Identify, educate, and develop key data contacts among the business community and facilitate ongoing engagement necessary to achieve Data Governance objectives and meet business community needs.
  • Partner with Data Analysts and mentor less experienced resources to determine and document data quality standards for data within applicable domain(s) and then partner with IT to ensure they are implemented on underlying datasets.
