This role is hybrid and requires you to be in our downtown Toronto office (250 Yonge Street) / client office 3 times per week - subject to change at any time.
About the Job Role:
As a Data Test Engineer must have strong technical capabilities and good knowledge of the coding languages commonly used in ETL development, SQL , Python/PySpark, BigQuery and Data warehousing Concepts. You should have knowledge on quality engineering around data strategy & governance, test design & implementation, troubleshooting for bugs and errors and finding solutions of ETL Development. Extensive experience in solving complex technical problems and troubleshooting is must.
Requirements for this role:
1. 5+ years of work experience in data ingestion, ETL testing, data integrity testing and Cloud testing
2. Proficiency in SQL, BigQuery, Python/Pyspark and any data platform
3. Knowledge on Airflow DAG, Cloud composer, Looker studio or similar
4. Working experience with Cloud data platform (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure as optional)
5. Strong ability to analyze the business and user requirements and translate them into testing deliverables such as testing data, SQL query and validate expected results.
6. Working knowledge on JIRA, Confluence and test management tools like Zephyr is mandatory
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with different stake holders
8. Experience working in Onshore – offshore model
Key Responsibilities:
1. 5+ Years of Software Quality Assurance experience on enterprise level applications which includes Datalake, Warehouse Testing.
2. Experience in writing complex SQL queries, Experience in writing complex SQL queries, ability to determine the types of testing that must be conducted (i.e., data validation, regression, etc.), including evaluating the testability of requirements and create a comprehensive test plan that supports the business and technological solutions being delivered.
3. Should have experience testing multiple test phases in medium to large projects.
4. Understanding of information governance principles and how they could apply in a testing capacity.
5. Should have adequate experience and clear understanding of datalake, warehouse and data mart testing.
6. Identification and Test Data Preparation Techniques.
7. Ability to transform complex Business logic into SQL or PL/SQL queries.
8. Thorough knowledge of Software Test Life Cycle, Test Case Life Cycle, Defect Life Cycle etc.
9. Creating requirements traceability matrix (RTM)
10. Proficiency with Test Case Preparation and Execution.
11. QA Automation Test tools expertise
12. Extensive exposure to ETL testing with high-level of SQL skills is required.
13. Should have exposure to large data sets and understand Data Quality Framework.
14. Experience in data analysis, including profiling, auditing, balancing, and reconciliation, in an Information technology operating environment.
15. Defect tracking experience (i.e., Jira, Zephyr etc.)
16. Experience in tuning SQL queries, Stored Procedures, Views, etc. for performance improvements
17. Should be detail oriented with analytical mind set.
18. Knowledge of data models and entity relationship diagrams.
19. Must have the ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changes while maintaining urgency in completing assigned tasks.
