We are seeking a talented professional with a strong background in database administration and DevOps practices, particularly within the Azure platform, to join our experienced team of in-house database specialists, supporting the maintenance and improvement of the Society’s core applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in data migration from on-premises data centres to the cloud and will be eager to grow and learn alongside a supportive team.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Database Administration: Manage, monitor, and optimize our database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- DevOps Practices: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployment processes, and support infrastructure as code initiatives.
- Cloud Migration: Lead and assist in the migration of databases from on-premises data centers to Azure, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, and system architects, to support application deployment and performance tuning.
- Continuous Development: Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge, sharing insights with the team.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database architecture, DevOps processes, and migration strategies.
What Do We Need From You?
To succeed in this role being experienced with the following would be advantageous.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator and DevOps Engineer.
- Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Database and Azure Data Factory.
- Experience in data migration projects, specifically moving databases from on-premises to cloud environments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
- Solid understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience of Agile working would be advantageous.
