Description:

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Database Administrator/Software Developer. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing our public safety and organizational databases, with a focus on the NICHE Records Management System. The position may also develop computer programs/applications to enhance the end-user experience.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in SQL Server and data modelling, as well as experience and knowledge of law enforcement processes and data collection.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops table structures, SQL queries, and automation in a SQL Server environment in order to map categories and classifications from one database to another and provide expertise and guidance in the database design
  • Develop test plan and scripts for System Acceptance tests
  • Prepare the test environment and perform tests
  • Contribute to the written database strategy that includes standards, design, maintenance, replication, archiving, access and security to support business needs
  • Manages and maintain all production and non-production databases, including performing backups, recovery and validation, as well as reporting on database statistics
  • Manage database configurations for optimal performance and cost
  • Develop computer software programs, as directed by the Manager, to translate business requirements & designs into information systems
  • Produce appropriate technical documentation as required
  • Supports business units during testing
  • Liaise with external vendors and internal clients to analyze problems and propose solutions.
  • Participate in walk-through of deliverables to identify potential problems
  • Perform database administration duties to ensure the security, availability performance tuning, integrity and recoverability of SQL Server/Other database environments
  • Provide SQL Server/Other Database problem and change management support
  • Identifies requirements and prepare proposals for major enhancements and maintenance work for SQL Server/Other Database products
  • Liaise with users, vendors and server administrators on SQL Server/Other Database related issues
