SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are desirable.
  • Proficiency in rack and stack procedures, cable management, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with data center design principles, power distribution, and cooling systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Management:
  • Install and maintain server hardware, switches, routers, and storage devices.
  • Manage data center racks, ensuring proper organization, labeling, and cable management.
  • Monitor power distribution units (PDUs) for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues promptly.
  • Physical Security:
  • Implement and enforce access controls and security protocols.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Collaborate with security teams to address any vulnerabilities.
  • Cooling and Environmental Control:
  • Monitor temperature, humidity, and airflow within the data center.
  • Optimize cooling systems to maintain ideal operating conditions.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Capacity Planning:
  • Assess current and future capacity requirements for servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Plan for expansion, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to order necessary hardware.
  • Heavy Equipment Handling:
  • Be physically capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment, including servers, racks, and other infrastructure components.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of data center assets, configurations, and changes.
  • Generate regular reports on performance, utilization, and incidents.
  • Document procedures and best practices.
  • Collaboration:
  • Partner with network engineers, system engineers, and facilities teams.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects related to data center infrastructure.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
