Description:

To develop and lead a team of AHP’s, Nurses, Education staff & assistants, AHP Assistants, Technical Instructors, Activity Coordinators and Therapeutic Involvement Workers within a defined clinical service based within Therapies and Education Service. They will develop specialised high quality clinical interventions and programmes and manage the resources within the specified area. They will also lead on patient involvement activity within their service. The staff managed will provide the needs led programmes to patients on and off the ward.
The post is situated within the Forensic Care Group and located in a high secure setting. The post holder will lead on managing and developing a variety of individual and group clinical interventions to a diverse range of mentally disordered offenders.
Develop and provide a patient needs led clinical programme using a range of assessments, treatment approaches and evaluation based on best available evidence, to a specific patient group in the designated area managed.
Develop and coordinate a needs led Therapy and Education Service in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
Provide clinical and professional leadership to a diverse group of professional staff and manage the day-to-day organisation of staff in the area.
Deputise for the OT Professional Manager/Service Manager as required.
Ensure effective management of the resources allocated to the area managed.
Ensure effective time management and prioritise areas of responsibility.
Promote the use of evidence-based practice and continually evaluate and develop the service undertaking audit as required.

Liaise effectively with managers within clinical directorates.

Attend and contribute to relevant meetings as required.

In conjunction with colleagues develop and implement the patient pathway within the Therapies, Education Service fitting in with the pathways of the other Clinical Directorates.
Be actively involved in Quality Governance and quality assurance activities as required.
Accurately record statistical information.
Contribute to the Care Programme Approach process.
Keep accurate, appropriate and contemporaneous patient records in accordance with the Forensic Information Governance Group and Trust Policy.
Support and deliver innovative practice.
Undertake administrative tasks as required by the service and the Directorate.
Lead on specific developments as required
