Compensation: $79,435.20 annually (consideration for transferable experience relevant to the role)

OVERVIEW / JOB SUMMARY:
The Dean of Aviation Technologies at WSU Tech plays a pivotal role in advancing the college’s mission of delivering world-class education and workforce development in aviation. As the academic leader of the aviation division, this position is a critical blend of 70% tactical execution and 30% strategic planning, ensuring that the aviation programs are not only operationally excellent but also aligned with broader industry trends and workforce needs.
Reporting to the Vice President of Aviation and Workforce Development, the Dean will oversee a diverse range of programs, including Aviation Maintenance, Professional Pilot, Avionics, Unmanned Aerial Systems, Non-destructive Testing, Aerospace Manufacturing and Assembly, Composite Manufacturing, and Aerospace Coatings and Painting. The Dean will lead, manage, and supervise the delivery of instruction, ensuring that all programs meet the highest standards of quality and relevance.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Develops new and innovative programs and courses designed to meet the training and transfer needs of the community.
- Assists in the development of articulation agreements with other educational institutions.
- Oversees all classroom and laboratory space located at the WSU Tech
- Recruits, selects, assigns, manages, and evaluates faculty in areas of supervision.
- Communicates and develops relationships with industry members including Industry Advocate Team (IAT) members
- Develops partnerships with industry partners to include corporate training opportunities, scholarships, and internship/work-study arrangements to ensure transition of students to workforce.
As an outward-facing leader, the Dean will represent WSU Tech at both local and national levels, cultivating relationships with industry partners, student services, and educational institutions. The successful candidate will champion the development of concurrent education offerings that align with state pathways, fostering a seamless transition for students from high school to full-time enrollment or program completion.
In this role, the Dean will also collaborate closely with internal external stakeholders to support the college’s commitment to academic excellence. The Dean is responsible for maintaining and expanding WSU Tech as a global leader in aviation training.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, required. Master’s degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum seven years of administrator/leadership experience in a technical/career profession or in a technical college, required.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant or Pilot rating preferred
- FAA Pilot Certification preferred
- Teaching experience and/or student services in adult education, preferred.
- Knowledge of career technical educational theory and evaluation preferred.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including outstanding speaking skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in an environment that can be extremely busy and frequently subject to change.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to accurately and quickly process, enter and audit data.
