- $110,115 - $120,760 + 15.4% super
- Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne. Other capital city locations may be considered.
The Decision Support Specialist (DSS), under the direction of the Energy Sector Lead and Telecommunications Sector Lead, delivers high-impact weather, climate, water and space weather advice to support energy and telecommunication customer operations.
The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering an excellent customer experience and improving energy and telecommunication sector operations to contribute to the safety and productivity of the Australian community.
The role requires technical expertise, excellent communication skills, advanced customer engagement skills, and professionalism to be a trusted advisor to the customer, often embedded within their operations. By working closely with the customer on a day to day basis, the DSS is a key focal point for customer engagement and draws on extensive networks across the Bureau to deliver tailored services. They gain deep sector insight to guide and support innovation and service development to enhance the Bureau’s offering for customers and the sectors at-large.
A solid understanding of atmospheric science and operational forecasting is essential to be successful in this role. Energy and/or telecommunication sector knowledge/experience is highly-desirable.
The DSS supports effective decision-making, responds to customer requirements and ensures these needs are being met. Decision Support Specialists undertake routine shiftwork and periodic project work, requiring an ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and organise work effectively.
