Description:

As a delivery manager you will be based in our Nematology team within our plant protection programme. The role of delivery manager is to coordinate and assist with the day to day delivery of diagnostic work such as statutory, outbreak, survey and project work. You will ensure samples are processed efficiently within agreed deadlines through effective work planning, monitoring and adherence to set procedures.
Start date: January 2025
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Co-ordinate the day to day testing of samples, helping staff to troubleshoot problems when they occur.
- Help with routine hands-on delivery as necessary.
- Prioritise samples in relation to deadlines, resource availability and time constraints.
- Communicate directly with customers to identify their requirements, advise on suitable testing, and report results, via email, telephone and internal reporting systems.
- Utilize R and Microsoft office to report results to a wide range of customers
- Liaise with the Scientists and Team Manager to identify resource requirements and best utilise available staff within team and programme.
- Supervise the day to day work of Assistant Scientists and apprentices, providing functional management as agreed with the Team Manager.
- Assist the Senior Plant Nematologist and Principal Plant Nematologist in the coordination of resource for project delivery.
- Ensure best practice in the laboratory, following Standard Operating Procedures and the quarantine facilities code of conduct.
- Take responsibility for the team’s quality management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 17025) and health & safety.
- Deliver required training to staff and assist in training record upkeep.
- Assist with the management of Nematology’s facilities.
