JOB SUMMARY
The Department for Business and Trade supports businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of the department in the Strategy & Private Office Directorate.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic person to join DBT’s Delivery Unit, a team sitting at the heart of the organisation, to lead on cross-cutting portfolios of work. You will be part of a team driving forward the Secretary of State’s priorities, ensuring join up across the department and with other government departments, horizon scanning and strategic planning, and supporting the Permanent Secretary and Ministers in their engagement with the centre and our strategic partners.
The role will include close working with the Secretary of State and Permanent Secretary Private Offices to ensure the department is delivering against their top priorities. You’ll join a supportive team who will give you the right tools and training to succeed and help you to develop your career further.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You will work as part of a dynamic and motivated team to deliver exciting and varied work, such as:
- Drafting high quality briefings and submissions for Ministers and Senior Officials to support their cross-government engagement.
- Working with colleagues across Government to progress priority workstreams and strategies on key government priorities such as economic growth.
- Tracking departmental delivery and providing central coordination for cross-Government boards

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels within a large organisation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to write succinctly and clearly for a range of audiences.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your work when asked to contribute to multiple projects at once.
