Responsibilities:
- Support the Chef de Partie in preparing, baking, and finishing a variety of high-quality breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure that all baked goods meet the hotel’s high standards for quality, taste, and presentation. Consistently produce items with attention to detail, precision, and creativity.
- Monitor stock levels of baking ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality. Assist in ordering and receiving supplies and manage inventory to minimize waste.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment is used properly and safely.
- Contribute ideas for new menu items and seasonal specialties, staying up to date with baking trends and techniques. Assist in creating and testing new recipes.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff, including chefs and kitchen porters, to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations. Provide guidance and training to junior staff as needed.
- Occasionally interact with guests, especially during special events or cooking demonstrations, to display the bakery’s offerings and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Be adaptable to different shifts and work schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of the bakery and hotel operations.
- Stay informed about new baking techniques, equipment, and trends in the culinary industry. Participate in training and development opportunities provided by the hotel.
- Assist in managing food costs by using ingredients efficiently and minimizing waste while maintaining the highest quality standards.
