Description:

ERM is seeking a Demolition and Remediation Manager to support opportunities in Belgium and other European Union countries. In this role, you will be part of a project team that supports clients’ needs for decommissioning, decontamination, and demolition (DDD). You will collaborate with project managers, demolition managers, and field safety personnel to oversee contractors for the safe implementation of fieldwork and work with clients to define new scopes of work.

About the Service You Will Offer to Our Clients
ERM’s LPMR Service is aimed at helping clients manage environmental liabilities and realize maximum value from their contaminated land challenges. We strive to develop risk-based soil and groundwater remediation strategies that protect human health and ecology, while satisfying our clients’ business goals and meeting regulatory obligations. We manage their risks and clean up their balance sheets, while keeping a close eye on costs and managing stakeholders’ expectations. Our global services include site investigation, risk assessment, remediation, and redevelopment strategy development and implementation to help capture value from our clients’ active facilities and discontinued operations across the globe, supported by decommissioning and demolition services where needed.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Project Planning & Execution: Develop scopes of work, review contractor plans, and support cost estimates for remediation and DDD projects. Attend pre-construction interviews, supervise tasks, participate in meetings, document progress, update schedules, perform field safety walks, and prepare final reports.
  • Contractor & Construction Management: Review contractor submittals, including RFIs, clarifications, submittals, change order requests, and compliance documents. Provide support in quality assurance, site restoration, earthwork operations, and remedial system evaluations.
  • Site Investigation: Identify existing building conditions and hazardous materials for safe remediation and demolition handling.
  • Field Safety: Serve as Field Safety Officer when required, preparing Health & Safety Plans, conducting safety briefings, and maintaining site safety records.
  • Daily Coordination: Act as Demolition Manager, coordinating daily site work, reviewing scope documents, managing schedules, and documenting field progress.
  • Staff & Subcontractor Oversight: Schedule and evaluate on-site staff and subcontractor performance, assist in negotiating and resolving change order requests.
  • Client Communication: Support project tasks, assess conformance with plans and specifications, and implement necessary clarifications. Assist in identifying upcoming requirements and business development activities.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with at least five years of experience in construction or consulting.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (both verbal and written).
  • Experience with construction sites, scope preparation, work plan reviews, and report writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Project tools.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills, with a strong ability to deliver detailed project outputs.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (80-90%), with field rotations of two/three weeks and typically one-week breaks.
