Dental Assistant (NOC 33100)
Full Time, permanent position, 40 hours weekly
Wage: CAD $27.00 -$ 39.00 hourly

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate from a Dental Assisting Program
  • CPR Certification

EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Dental Xrays (including FMX, Panorax, CBCT)
  • Expose, process, and mount radiographs as specified by HARP.
  • Instrument set-up
  • Dentrix & Dexis, Disexis, Abeldent Curve Software
  • Invisalign treatment planning
  • Cerec, milling, baking-glazing
  • Polishing of cerec crown in laboratory.
  • Assisting in periodontal surgeries, endodontics, implants surgery.
  • Familiar with biohorizon, Straumann, DENTSPLY Sirona implant system
  • Recording data on patients’ record or chart as directed by the Doctor of Dental Surgery.
  • Patient and community education on oral health (extra-oral).
  • Other extra-oral duties as required by the dentist.
  • Fabricating nightguards using 3D printer and polishing.
  • Instruction in care and maintenance of pre-fitted appliances.

  • Welcome, greet, and seat the patients in operatories.
  • Prepare the room for all the dental procedures and treatments.
  • Preparing patients for dental examination and assisting dentists with procedures and treatments;
  • Cleaning and sterilizing instruments.
  • Maintaining instruments, operatories, Cerec machine, and autoclave sterilizer.
  • Changing suction traps.
  • Educating patients about dental education, oral hygiene, and brushing techniques.
  • Providing information regarding post-op instructions.
  • Performing charting duties like maintaining charting records, procedure notes, and updating medical and dental history, including notes.
  • Scheduling dental appointments, preparing invoices, and processing payments. Ordering dental and office supplies.

  • Identifying gaps in clinical schedule and making recommendations to the Office Manager, Regional Operations Manager overseeing the practice’s performance;
  • Establishing strong patient relationships while maintaining ethical professional behavior;
  • Delivering optimal levels of continuity between patient and service provider;
  • Demonstrating active listening and empathy to patients using effective communication skills;
  • Clinical chairside assisting with all dental procedures;
  • Ensuring that the dentist you are assisting has the necessary dental supplies on hand to perform dental procedures;
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments in accordance with ministry of health and practice protocols;
  • Cleaning and preparing treatment rooms in accordance with ministry of health and practice protocols;
  • Assisting dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary;
  • Assisting in updating and maintaining client dental records;
  • Ensuring all treatment consent forms have been completed and gathered;
  • Providing post-operative care instructions;
  • Scheduling patient appointments;
  • Understanding and adhering to Radiographic Quality Assurance Controls, Infection Control, WHMIS and all other applicable laws and regulations to provide a safe environment for patients and staff;
  • Ensuring all clinical and storage areas are clean and organized;
  • Caring for dental equipment;
  • Monitoring and ordering dental supply inventory on a weekly and monthly basis as required;
  • Lab cases (out-going and in-coming);
  • Suggesting effective ways of maintaining supply costs within budget;
  • IV sedation protocols and tracking drug/equipment expiry dates (if applicable).
