Through a major donation from Green Shield Canada, the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto has established the Green Shield Canada Clinic, which is part of the One Smile Research Program. The research program will provide dental care to people who have experienced cost-barriers to dental care, and will follow them over five years to determine the benefits of dental carefor individuals, families, the healthcare system, and society overall.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program, Certified Dental Assistant (CDA II) and current member of the ODAA, including HARP. Must also have current CPR.
- Minimum two years of experience in the dental field, encompassing all aspects of dentistry.
- Experience using and handling all dental related materials and products (e.g. amalgams, impression materials, disinfectants, pit and fissure sealants, etc.) and exposing dental radiographs.
- Highly developed organizational, time management, and communication skills and excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office
- Capability to work in all facets relating to dentistry; ability to work quickly and accurately with manual dexterity
- Ability to work in close association and cooperation with others as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion, good judgement, and initiative
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately convey information
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task; demonstrated punctuality, work dependability
- Ability to act with sensitivity and empathy when responding to diverse groups of individuals

Responsibilities:
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Providing chair side assistance during dental examinations and treatment procedures
- Applying established standards when cleaning, sanitizing and/or sterilizing facilities
- Applying established standards when administering biological and/or medical imaging
- Scheduling appointments
- Updating and maintaining database records
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Providing safety training and ensuring compliance to occupational safety precautions
- Following rules and procedural processes related to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
