How you make a difference:
The Dental Assistant is responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable dental standards, state and federal regulations, and laws in all dental treatment areas. They will assist the dentist during dental hours and report any issues regarding persons served care to the Dentist and HSA. The Dental Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of the dental practice and the provision of high-quality dental care to all patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the availability of charts and appropriate paperwork for the dentist, as well as maintaining instrument logs and inventory.
  • Assist the dentist with passing and receiving instruments, oral evacuation and retraction, preparation of materials, and taking x-rays.
  • Maintain operatory supplies and equipment, and follow all infection control guidelines and prescribed procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and assist in seating, preparing, and dismissing persons served.
  • Chart all findings in patient records and maintain statistical data, as well as performing other tasks as requested by the dentist.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Graduate of accredited dental assistant school.
  • Registered Dental Assistant preferred

Experience

  • Two (2) years’ experience
  • Previous correctional/detention facility experience

Licenses/Certifications

  • Unrestricted current dental assistant license, certification or registration in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA
