The Oral Health Branch (OHB) at Health Canada is looking to fill positions at the PM-03 and PM-04 (Dental hygienists) groups and levels with various tenures to deepen Health Canada’s oral health delivery expertise. These individuals will join OHB’s Oral Health Centre of Expertise to support the delivery of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

EDUCATION

Diploma or degree in dental hygiene.
Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Experience analysing, evaluating and interpreting oral health literature and research.
Experience providing interpretative guidance on issues related to oral health.

Recent* and significant** experience in providing dental hygiene oral health care in a clinical setting.

  • Recent : Within the last 5 years.

** Significant : Minimum 5 years and worked in a clinical setting the last 3 years.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the principles and best practices in recognizing, and treating oral diseases either through minimal or more invasive oral care, injuries, and defects of the teeth and supporting structures.
Knowledge of current oral health delivery and technical competencies used to deliver oral health care to clients with diverse or complex oral health care needs in Canada.

ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to work in a team of diverse oral health professionals.
Ability to assess clinical files and provide advice to management on whether clinical cases meet set criteria for approval within program coverage rules.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willing and able to work flexible hours on short notice.
